The Marketing Refresh team is growing yet again! Katy Katz is the newest full-time member of the Marketing Refresh staff! Katy first connected with the Marketing Refresh team when she met our Director of Search Marketing, Aaron, through H/IMA and they are both currently on the board for SearchHOU. When our needs as an agency started to grow, Aaron knew that there was only one woman for the job. In August 2017, the week that Hurricane Harvey hit Houston, Katy Katz started as Marketing Refresh’s new Director of Account Strategy.
Who Is Katy Katz?
Katy is originally from Wisconsin but moved to Minnesota for college and ended up living there for 10 years! She is married to her husband David, has a 5-year-old son and a very sweet, but lazy bulldog named Lola. Her husband’s job thankfully brought her to Texas where she could get away from the snow and start eating a lot more Tex-Mex.
When Katy isn’t advising clients on the best marketing practices, you can find her in the kitchen. She loves to cook and create new recipes. She is constantly trying to master her grandmother’s perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe but has been unsuccessful so far! To help her reach this goal, the Marketing Refresh team has selflessly volunteered to be her taste testers.
What She Can Brag About
Katy came to us with some serious marketing experience under her belt. Before Marketing Refresh, Katy worked as the Marketing Strategist for SmartBug Media, where she advised clients on inbound marketing strategies, marketing ideation, SEO and content research and direction. Before that, she was the Content Director for Inturact.
In addition to her extensive marketing experience. She is involved in quite a bit of public speaking within the industry. She has spoken at many events and organizations including: Pubcon, Zenith, Social Media Breakfast, MNSearch, SearchHOU, State of Search, Rocks Digital, podcasts, and many others.
Katy was recently the MC for the H/IMA Interactive Strategies Conference and has several upcoming speaking engagements. She will be speaking about social media at State of Search on October 9-10 and about the future of search at Pubcon Las Vegas in November—contact us for a discount code to one of these events!

Her New Role
As our Director of Account Strategy, Katy will be the point of contact and strategic lead for clients. Moving forward, she is the head of the account team and will be leading the overall strategic direction for Marketing Refresh clients.
Katy is excited to be challenged in new ways and to work side-by-side with “such a group of rockstars” (her words not ours). Our entire team is thrilled to have her on board and cannot wait to see what’s next!
