Marketing Refresh has seen a lot of growth over the past year and one of those areas of growth is our internship program. We’re proud to announce that our Summer Intern for 2015… drumroll please… is Kaléi Sorenson!
Kalei hails from the windy city… or Chicago for those who might also come from a ‘windy city’ and might be a little confused. She’s an undergraduate at Butler College in Indianapolis, Indiana and is pursuing a double major in Marketing and Management Information Systems (MIS). Kalei is also the oldest of six, leading the way for five younger brothers and sisters.
Q: What Are You Involved In at School?
A: I’m a member of Kappa Alpha Theta, a social sorority on our campus, and I also helped co-found a group on our campus with six other girls. The group we founded is called CHAARG and it stands for Changing Health Attitudes and Actions to Recreate Girls. Our motto is “Liberating girls off the elliptical since 2012” and we’re heavily active on social media promoting health and fitness.
Q: What Do You want to Learn at Marketing Refresh?
A: What I’m probably most eager to learn this summer is how to use social media more effectively. One of the biggest eye openers for me was that different social media platforms have different levels of effectiveness when you’re targeting specific audiences. I’d really like to be able to sharpen my skills in that area, so I can improve my messaging across all the social media platforms and be able to micro target specific markets.
Q: What Are Your Hobbies?
A: It seems like there isn’t much time between all my classes and extracurricular activities to have much time for hobbies, but I like to spend my off time in the summer working at the YMCA as a camp counselor and working with kids. In fact, I love being a part of anything that has to do with kids. I also really enjoy doing Crossfit… and hanging out with my friends, of course.
