My professional, academic, and personal interests couldn’t be more dissimilar. For the last 11 years I managed the IT and ecommerce aspects of a global parts distributor, handling everything from network architecture, to inventory management, to eCommerce platform migrations. My educational background is similarly branched. I began with a focus in biology, followed by anthropology, database administration at the University of Houston’s Bauer College of Business, undergraduate studies at the University of Houston Downtown for my BS in psychology, and finally to Southern New Hampshire University for my in-progress MS in Industrial and Organizational Psychology (IO).
In that same time, I started my own LLC to consult with small business owners on their ecommerce and marketing needs. My connections in that venture eventually led me to first cross paths with Marketing Refresh founder and CEO Terri Hoffman and Digital Marketing Director Aaron Eaves many years ago. As an independent consultant over the years, I worked with Marketing Refresh on some side projects, sat in on some brainstorming sessions, and referred clients that I thought would be better served by a solid team rather than just myself. In a way, I feel like I’ve been an honorary member of the Marketing Refresh team for quite a while.
Weaving Experience
I view this opportunity to join the team officially as a way to bring all my interests together to enhance and build on the services Marketing Refresh already offers and answer questions that are critical to our clients’ success. For example, how can tools of the digital marketing trade be combined with what science tells us about human behavior to help clients make smarter hiring decisions? Can theories of personality be leveraged to increase website traffic? How can an online seller offer free shipping and remain competitive in the Amazon era?
More To Learn
But from the arguably more importantly standpoint of personal development, I am eager to see what can I learn from my colleagues here at Marketing Refresh. I know that for every piece of knowledge I bring to the team there are countless gaps in my own knowledge that my they can help fill. I’ve already earned several industry certifications and have many more still to explore. I also intend to dive deep into the latest data analysis software and tools. After all, data is fun!
