Aaron quickly evolved into the Search Marketing Manager at Marketing Refresh, and co-founded SearchHOU, a growing digital search marketing group. But that wasn’t enough. To quench his thirst for search, Aaron had to leave our humble little town of Houston.
An SEM Conference In Dallas
If you want to stay current in the digital marketing space without spending top dollar, this was the place to be. An event hosted by the wonderful DFWSEM that only happens once a year. Not because it’s annual (even though it is). But because it takes an entire year to process the vast amount of knowledge that’s presented.
With a line-up of speakers that could rival even the largest conferences in the search marketing industry, State of Search has quickly become a go-to event for Aaron.
Behind The Scenes At State Of Search
Between networking with individuals that share his passion and listening to speakers from Bing, Google, and BaseCamp, Aaron was a kid in a candy store.
The Tuesday morning keynote was especially memorable. Mig Reyes told him not to be afraid of the design process and that you can’t have something pretty without making something ugly first. For Aaron, information like this had to get back home.
Bringing Skills Back to Houston
Aaron and his fellow SearchHOU members headed back down south to Houston.
He drove in deep thought. Thinking about ways to implement the new tools and tactics he learned at State of Search to help his clients and how he could use this information to grow the local Houston search community. And depending on which city he was driving through, he also thought about speed traps….and Buc-ee’s.
